Since the start of restrictions related to COVID-19, global carbon dioxide emissions have decreased due to heightened teleworking capabilities and a reduction in travel, which means lower emissions from fossil fuel ignition.
A rescue mission is underway, but this operation doesn’t involve helicopters, Humvees or Soldiers — just an Army of two from the Directorate of Public Works Environmental Office. Their mission: to protect the trees and habitats within the U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz by posting signs to educate and call attention to safeguarded areas, trees and wildlife.
Ralf Hechler, Ramstein-Miesenbach mayor, notified the German-American Community Office of several complaints neighbors made involving U.S. military members. The U.S. military enjoys good standing in the Rheinland-Pfalz area, and it’s important for service members to make sure it continues.

This year, the world will celebrate Earth Day on April 22. Earth Day is an opportunity to rethink our commitment to energy conservation. The 21st Theater Sustainment Command developed its energy discipline program in 2014. The focus of the program this year is to conduct energy assessments during tactical operations and training.
On April 22, Earth Day was recognized by more than a billion people in 192 countries. First celebrated in 1970, it is designed as a day to honor the Earth and bring attention to environmental issues.
