86 CES hosts open house, celebrates fire prevention week

Fire Prevention Week kicked off with an open house for families in the KMC Oct. 8 on Ramstein.
KMC Fire Emergency Services will kick off Fire Prevention Week with a parade at 9 a.m. Oct. 8 through Ramstein housing. The day will continue with the Fire Department open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Fire Station 1, Bldg. 2303, on the Ramstein flightline. There will be free food, live fire and vehicle extrication demonstrations, fire truck displays from KMC FES and surrounding local fire departments, activities for kids, door prizes and much, much more.
Firefighters and base leadership demonstrate extinguishing an aircraft fire Oct. 8 on Ramstein. As part of Fire Prevention Week, families visited Fire Station 1 to learn about fire safety including home-fire safety issues, fire extinguisher training and holiday safety tips. The event concluded with a live fire demonstration where leadership from throughout Ramstein helped firefighters extinguish a simulated aircraft fire in the burn pit.
