Residents living off-base in German communities must know the rules regarding snow and ice on sidewalks. Residents should check their rental contracts to find out about their obligations. The rental contract clearly states who must keep sidewalks free of ice and snow.

Going home at the end of the day is a welcomed experience for most people after a busy day, but without the right precautions, driving can be hazardous during the winter months. Vehicle accidents increase at an alarming rate during colder weather because many drivers fail to compensate for the increased driving hazards created by sleet, ice and snow.

The Exchange Europe Car Care Centers want to remind all privately owned vehicle (POVs) operators in Germany of requirements to have mud and snow tires on their vehicles during winter conditions of snow and ice.
