Construction on A6
The A6 will be blocked for traffic from April 9 at 8 p.m. until April 12 at 5 a.m. between Kaiserslautern West and Ramstein-Miesenbach in both directions due to bridge construction. Traffic directed to the west (Saarbruecken) will be rerouted via B 270, L 367, L 356 and L 363 and will return to A6 at Gate Ramstein-Miesenbach. Follow blue signs U 30 and U 18. Traffic directed to the east (Mannheim) will use the aforementioned detour in the opposite direction. Motorists should follow blue signs U 11 and U 21. Please allow additional time for the detour.

Tax filing deadline extended to May 17
The IRS has announced an extension to the traditional tax filing deadline from April 15 to May 17 for individual taxpayers and taxpayers who pay self-employment tax. For taxpayers who owe money to the IRS, the deadline to pay is also extended to May 17, without penalties or interest. Overseas filers can still take advantage of the automatic extended filing date of July 15. However, this automatic filing date for overseas filers does not prevent the accrual of penalties or interest for those who owe; payments must be made by May 17 to avoid these fees. Of note, this extension only applies to federal tax filing and not to state filing. Check with your state tax agency for filing deadlines.

Registry of Motor Vehicles closure
The USAREUR Registry of Motor Vehicles customer service office on Sembach Kaserne will be closed on Fri, April 16 for building maintenance. Please plan accordingly.
POV inspections
The 86th VRS Vehicle Inspection Station implemented an appointment-based system. All safety service inspections, including inspections for new vehicle registrations, inspections for registration renewals, and re-inspections for previously failed vehicles will require an appointment. A standby line will be operating to accommodate any individuals who did not make appointments on a space available basis. However, it is recommended that appointments be made.

The 86th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office has a new process for scheduling official photos. Visit Ramsteinstudio.setmore.com/services to schedule your official photo. Head and shoulders appointments are available Mon-Thu, with appointments for full-length photos on Fridays.
