The 2008 tax season is almost upon us and we need your help. The Ramstein Tax Center is looking for volunteers to assist our community in filing their taxes for 2008.
Ramstein’s tax assistance program will focus on helping active-duty members, Department of Defense civilians and their dependents learn to prepare and file their own tax returns.
The legal office cannot run its tax program without the outstanding assistance of volunteers.
There are no special requirements to be a volunteer for the Ramstein Tax Center – you only have to have a true desire to help others. Volunteers may be officers, enlisted members, civilian employees or dependents. Training will be provided through IRS online training and through a specialized course that will focus on not only the basics, but on the specific tax issues that we face living overseas and being associated with the military. Training is scheduled for Jan. 12 to 16.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Ramstein Tax Center, send your name and contact information (duty phone and duty location if applicable, e-mail address and any other contact information) to Tonya Lee at tonya.lee@ramstein.af.mil.
This is a great volunteer opportunity to help others and learn about our tax system.
