The U.S. Army’s modernization strategy has one focus: make Soldiers and units more lethal to win the nation’s wars and come home safely. In a world of cutting-edge science and evolving technology, the Army must leverage the newest concepts and equipment to stay fit for the fight. That’s why U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz will team up with National Conference Services Inc. for the fourth annual Tech Expo, July 19, at the Kaiserslautern Community Activity Center on Daenner Kaserne.
The expo will include over 20 different vendors showcasing products ranging from cyber security to mission planning, offering military leadership and community members the opportunity to learn about emerging technologies. It is open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bldg. 3109.
Matt Davis, garrison information management officer and coordinator of this year’s expo, said the event is a chance for military members to get informed and network with industry experts to discuss mission-centric technologies and capability gaps.
“The expo is beneficial for leadership, Soldiers, civilian and end users alike — everyone who uses technology — to learn to maximize the efficiency of their current systems, see on-site solutions to mission-critical challenges and discover future innovations for the tactical warfighter,” Davis explained. The expo will have the latest in communication solutions, enterprise mobility, secure data storage and much more, he said.
All service members, family members, civilians and contractors are welcome to attend the free event. In addition to the product demonstrations, it will include a light breakfast, lunch, refreshments and giveaways. Senior leaders will be offered private tours before and after the event with one-minute hands-on demonstrations of various exhibitors’ technologies.
Davis said that this year’s expo is taking place on Daenner Kaserne to enable more participation from the east end of the Kaiserslautern Military Community. The change in location will allow people from installations such as Panzer and Sembach kasernes, who have not easily been able to participate in past years, more of an opportunity to attend, he explained.
Although the event is free, advance registration is recommended and may be completed online at www.federalevents.com/rheinland. Online registration will allow for quick entry on the day of the event. A full list of exhibitors may be found at this site as well.
“I’d like to encourage everybody to come,” Davis said. “This only happens once a year, and it’s something we’re very proud of.”
