“Keep on swinging”…. “Big-Band Jazz, Rock, Blues, Dixieland, Boogie-Woogie, Pop and Classical Music” at the European “BURG JAZZ” Music Festival Landstuhl will again fascinate everybody with high quality world musicians performing.
The “Unnerhaus Culture Club”, a non-profit organization, performs its 14th Festival inside the atmospheric courtyard of Nanstein Castle. The Club expects people from the KMC and surrounding communities, all of Germany and Southwest Europe to attend, finding their way like each year to “Nanstein Castle”. Car parking is in easy walking distance to the castle and drinks/food will be served.
The Festival is going to kick-off on July 22 at 8 p.m. and for the first time there will be a `theme-night` with the top act “The New Generation” band for the complete evening and night. You will see a spectacular show, a professional performance and a lightshow which appeals to the emotions.
The audience will be thrilled by a unique mixture of show and a music-program which includes classical orchestra as well as modern pop-bands. You will listen to classical music, musical-songs from “Elisabeth” and “Miss Saigon” and top-hits of the latest charts. An impressive life-experience will be the “Irish Set” which has its origin in the spectacular dance-shows such as “Lord of the Dance” or “Feet of Flame”. The first day will come to a close with our well known local stars, “Smitty, Molli and Corinna” in the Castel Battery Tower.
On Saturday the 23rd, the festival will continue at 5 p.m. The group “La Vida Nawlinz Fonction” will start and their sound leads the audience directly into the streets of New Orleans where the music of the brass-bands walking along the streets has been part of the sound of the Mississippi-metropolis since the beginning of the Jazz-history. Young musicians form “Ulisees”, a quartet around bandleader Uli Geßner, the “Music Power 2008” award-winners in Koblenz will continue with excellent Latin Jazz, Bepop and Cool Jazz.
Highlight of the evening will be the drummer “Charly Antolini “ with his latest project: “ Charly Antolini meets the Jazz Ladies”. Firstclass musicians such as Lindy Huppertsberg (“Lady Bass”), Gee Hye Lee on the piano, saxophonist Stephanie-Lottermoser and jazz-singer Nina Michelle accompany the `old-timer` and promise a breath-taking final on Saturday night. The musicians of the La Vida Nawlinz Fonction will continue to entertain at the after-show party in the Battery Tower.
On Sunday (Family-day) the 24th, `Old-time Jazz` at its best will start off about 11 a.m., played by the very popular “Mr Jelly`s Jam Band” from Darmstadt. The band plays as it was played in the old New Orleans and Kansas City times between 7:20 and 7:30 p.m., the prime time of great American `Traditional Jazz`.
Music style will totally change with “KLARO” the top act, a quartet of high-class, international musicians. The enormous expressivity of these four musicians is due to their individuality and spirit and influenced by their love for Jazz and adventures, Karolina Strassmayer, Cary DeNigris, John Goldsby created their own fascinating compositions, combining musical fantasy and tradition, lead by Drori Mondlak from New York on the drums.
He played his top acts in NY with Frank Foster, Joe Williams, Leo Konitz and Don Friedman. “Jordans Drive” will bring another change of genre. The Danish Jive-orchestra will finish this year`s festival with a fantastic power-show, a striking experience for eyes and ears.
With authentic Zoot Suits, acrobatic Cadillac Dancers and a lot of mad ideas Jordan`s Drive leads the audience through the colorful world of Swing and Jive. The festival will terminate around 6 p.m..
