Kaiserslautern American High School recently conducted a “Guest Teacher” Training for current and potential individuals interested in pursuing a substitute teaching position at KAHS.
“Guest Teacher,” is the new title given for KAHS substitutes. The new name represents professionalism and conveys the idea of what these individuals are, our “Guest Teachers.”
Guest speaker, assis- tant superintendent from the Kaiserslautern District Office, Kathryn Forystek, highlighted the goals of DODEA Community Strategic Plan, and provided insight on the process to become a DODDS educator.
The agenda included such topics as: the need for and use of a professional portfolio, career goals, classroom management techniques, lesson plans and preparing for the teaching day.
Twenty participants, with different backgrounds in education, engaged in open discussion on how to become a “Guest Teacher.”
