Just 90 minutes east of Kaiserslautern, nestled in the picturesque Saarland region the Treetop Walk Saarschleife offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of nature from a breathtaking perspective.
While walking on the trail through the native mixed deciduous forest you are able to discover interesting facts about animals and nature. Different learning and activity stations are located along the trail which slowly leads to the lookout tower that rises 42 meters high into the sky. When you arrive on the top platform you are rewarded with a unique panoramic view over the Nature Park Saar-Hunsrück, including the valley of the Saarschleife and, on clear days, the Vosges Mountains.
The trail and tower are designed to be low-barrier with a maximum gradient of 6 percent and can be accessed by wheelchair and strollers.
Starting Nov. 30 until Jan. 12 the Treetop Walk will be illuminated by warm, soft white light. With a cable length of approximately 10 kilometers and 300,000 LED lights the entire area will be transformed into an enchanted winter wonderland with different light installations.
