Operation Season’s Greetings hit Ramstein last week, with Blues Traveler and the New England Patriots cheerleaders putting on a free show for the Soldiers and Airmen in Hangar 1 Dec. 10.
Blues Traveler made their first-ever appearance at Ramstein, signing autographs and visiting with the wounded troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center.
“It’s a new feeling; if there is one emotion we feel the most it is pride. We feel like this performance is our chance to serve,” said John Popper, Blues Traveler lead singer.
Also, the cheerleaders from the World Champion New England Patriots and the Air Force Reserve and U.S. Air Forces in Europe bands performed.
“It’s a great way to come out, meet the troops and show our appreciation,” said Alison Preston, Patriots cheerleader who was on her third United Service Organizations tour here.
The cheerleaders didn’t mind missing their team’s home game to be here with the KMC military members.
“I don’t get to see this every day,” said Nicole Schell, who was on her first tour and her first time being exposed to the military. “I’ve never been on a tour like this before.”
