BUNDESGARTENSCHAU 2023 (BUGA 23)

APRIL 14 – OCT. 8, LUISENPARK/SPINELLI PARK, MANNHEIM

The German National Garden Show bi-annually takes place at alternating locations. This year Luisenpark/Spinelli Park in Mannheim will host the event. The show will display thousands of colorful flower arrangements, offer workshops about plants and animals, presentations on special topics, such as climate change, protection and sustainability, concerts on multiple stages, a talent show for young musicians, activities for children and much more. Over 5,000 individual events are planned on 178 days. Day, annual and group tickets are available, also a great place for school or family excursions. In 2000 Kaiserslautern was the host of the show. FRÜHJAHRSMESSE (SPRING FESTIVAL)

APRIL 6 – 23, FESTPLATZ, SPEYER

COMMERCIAL FAIR/STREET FOOD FESTIVAL

APRIL 14 – 16, CITY CENTER, RAMSTEIN-MIESENBACH

A commercial fair with local businesses displaying their goods, handcraft and services will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Congress Center. The outdoor Street Food Festival with a wide variety of food trucks will offer fun for all Friday through Sunday.

KAISERSLAUTERN CITY TOUR IN ENGLISH

APRIL 15, 11:15 A.M., TOURIST OFFICE, KAISERSLAUTERN

If you are interested in getting to know the local area during your stay in Germany, take part in an English guided tour in the City of Kaiserslautern! The tourist information offers guided English tours of the ruins of Casimir Castle, the Count Palatinate Hall and the 70-meter long underground tunnels. Further tours will take place once a month until Nov. The meeting place is the Tourist Information next to the Fruchthalle and the tour takes about 1.5 hours. OSTERBUBEN HIKING TRAIL

APRIL 15, 2 P.M., VILLAGE FOUNTAIN, WEILERBACH

Join on a fun hike around the town to Mackenbach with an opening ceremony with musical entertainment at the village fountain with free drinks. Homemade coffee and cake, wine and drinks, ice cream along the way, stops at the Golf Club and Tennis Club, finger food at Mackenbach quarry and a visit at the Palatinate Musician Museum. Family fun for everyone!

DEUTSCH-AMERIKANISCHER STAMMTISCH (GERMAN-AMERICAN GET-TOGETHER)

The Stammtisch, an informal get-together, aims at facilitating the local German-American exchange and provides a recurring forum for Americans and locals to meet and get to know each other.  Come out, meet new and nice people and learn about the local way of life over dinner. JEWISH EVENING — MELODIES OF LIFE

APRIL 26, 6 P.M., DEUTSCHORDENSAAL/ST. MARTINSPLATZ, KAISERSLAUTERN

Music helped to survive in the ghettos and camps. There are life stories behind Jewish fates composed between 1933-1945. The Emmerich-Smola-Musikschule and Musikakademie will present an excerpt of these stores and melodies at the Jewish Evening. Ben Shalom from Berlin will conduct the ensemble of cellos and saxophones. A workshop will take place prior to the musical performance and a dance group will show folkloristic dances. Admission is free.

GRACE NOTES CONCERT

APRIL 27, 8 P.M., FRUCHTHALLE, KAISERSLAUTERN

The Cape Town Opera Chorus will present music straight from the soul. The chorus is a award winning choir in a number of concert houses in Europe and across Africa. It will present old and new music from Eruope and Africa in contrast mixed with religious and spiritual compositions.
