OPEN AIR KERWE (VILLAGE FEST)

AUG. 24–26, VILLAGE CENTER, SEMBACH

Once again, the Musikverein is organizing an exciting village event for young and old. There will be live music, food and beverages, a trampoline and games for kids, a parade through town on Sunday afternoon, typically with a U.S. fire truck. The highlight will be a music performance by a popular German band and German-American guest singer Yasmin on Monday evening, followed by fireworks.

So, Sembachers get out there and celebrate with your German neighbors!

STADTJUBILÄUM KIBO (CITY ANNIVERSARY)

AUG. 23–25, CITY CENTER, KIRCHHEIMBOLANDEN

The City of Kircheimbolanden is celebrating its 1250th anniversary with a large festival. The area will be alive with games, climbing courses, bouncy castles and hands-on activities for young and old, such as the “Mascot Meeting.” The open-air concert with the U.S. Forces in Europe/Air Forces Africa big band “The Ambassadors” will begin at 5 p.m. on Sunday. Food and beverages are provided throughout the event. Entry to the arena is free on Sunday. On Saturday, Aug. 24, German pop stars Nico Santos and Michael Schulte will perform.

BACKFISCHFEST WORMS (CITY FESTIVAL)

AUG. 24–SEP. 1, RHEINPROMENADE, WORMS

The Nibelungen city of Worms invites you to a big festival on the Rhein every year at the end of August. Young and old meet on the “Kisselswiese” to celebrate together and enjoy the special atmosphere at the festival site, which includes the Wonnegau wine cellar, the Stiftskeller and in the “Gaadewirtschaft”.

It is the mixture of wine and folk festival that makes the Backfischfest so distinctive. Modern and traditional rides, the fragrance of sweets and hearty meals as well as the good wines from local winemakers create a unique atmosphere that attracts many guests from near and far. MIDDLE MOSELLE WINE FESTIVAL

AUG. 29–SEP. 2, BERNKASTEL-KUES

The Middle Moselle Wine Festival marks the start of a series of wine fests throughout Rheinland-Pfalz. The charming wine town of Bernkastel-Kues, famous for its picturesque market square with ancient half-timbered houses invites you to a lively weekend with a parade, live acts, evening events and fireworks. In addition, countless fine or hearty dishes are served and there are lots of regional wines to be tasted.

LEGO EXHBITION

AUG. 31–SEP. 1, 10 A.M.–5 P.M., STADTHALLE, LANDSTUHL

Fans of the colorful plastic building bricks will have a lot to explore at the exhibition in Landstuhl. More than 80 master builders from Luxembourg, Switzerland will display their works, such as Brandenburger Tor in Berlin, fascinating landscapes, scenes from Star Wars, Harry Potter, Knight Kingdom and many more. WIKINGERFEST AUF DEM WIKINGERPLATZ

AUG. 31–SEP. 1, WIKINGERPLATZ, BRUCHMÜHLBACH-MIESAU

Time travel back into the lives and times of the old Vikings! Men and strong women in traditional costumes will show their skills, you can visit a typical camp, traditional food and beverages will be on offer, and enjoy the “wild old Viking” atmosphere.

WEINMARKT 2024 (WINE MARKET)

AUG. 29–SEP. 1/SEP. 5–8, CITY PARK, MAINZ

Mainz will present itself from its most beautiful side: the Mainz wine market in the city park attracts numerous winemakers and exhibitors from the region on two weekends. During the popular event guests can stroll around the grounds and taste their personal wine selection from participating winemakers. For those interested in art and anyone who simply wants to be inspired, the popular artists’ market will take place in the rose garden. Handmade treasures such as jewelry, ceramics and woodwork are offered at numerous stands.

WINE FESTIVAL BINGEN

AUG. 30–SEP. 9, BINGEN/RHEIN

Another Rheinhessen-awarded event is the Bingen Wine Festival at the apex of the Rhein and Nahe Rivers, which offers visitors products from the local wineries. For 11 days, the people of Bingen celebrate the artistry of their winemakers, making it the longest wine festival along the Rhein! The extensive program makes time fly: there is live music every day, several fireworks light up both Klopp Castle and the banks of the Nahe, the traditional parade rolls leisurely and yet sublimely through the city center, the amusement park near Hindenburg complex attracts fun and adventure.

BARBAROSSA-FEST “SWINGING LAUTERN“

SEP. 5–7, 11 A.M.–11 P.M., CITY CENTER, KAISERSLAUTERN

Live program on stages and squares, as well as marching bands in the pedestrian zones. Shop or have a drink with accommodating jazz, swing, blues, boogie, salsa, soul and rock’n’roll. Experience a top-class program with regional and international bands on several stages, as well as other promos and activities from the business world. Market stalls with jewelry, clothing and more, while marching bands and ensembles ensure a lively atmosphere and get you into the swing!

STADTFEST (CITY FESTIVAL) LANDSTUHL

SEP. 6–9, CITY CENTER, LANDSTUHL

Come out and celebrate with the people of Landstuhl. There will be plenty of food and drinks, vendors and live music on various stages. The event takes place along the main street and on “Alter Markt”. Don’t miss out on the on fun and enjoy some early fall vibes.

WURSTMARKT (WINE FEST)

SEP. 6–10/13–16, FAIR GROUNDS/CITY CENTER, BAD DÜRKHEIM

Said to be the largest wine festival in the world, the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt (sausage market) is yet another highlight that lures guests to the German Wine Route for 9 days and nights with an extensive program. Delicious specialties from the Palatinate are offered to you almost everywhere and around 300 wines and sparkling wines from the entire region await you – there will certainly be one or two drinks for you with which you can enjoy the evening musical fireworks! The event is rather popular among KMC members and invites you to celebrate. However, beware: the Polizei is out there. Special trains will be running from Kaiserslautern, so hop on and enjoy the festivities, but make sure to get home safely!
