KAISERSLAUTERN ON ICE

UNTIL MAR 17, MESSEPLATZ, KAISERSLAUTERN

Attention ice-skating fans! A mobile ice-skating rink is now in place in Kaiserslautern. There will be curling events every Monday evening, interactive shows for children on Sundays and a Kinderfasching event on Feb. 13. Hot drinks, crepes and other snacks will be served in the adjacent “winter barn”, with free parking at Messeplatz, and you can rent skates. Get active, turn a few pirouettes and join in the icy fun!

FASCHING/KARNEVAL WEEKEND

FEB. 8 – 13, GERMANY-WIDE

Altweiberfasching (Old Wive’s) marks the beginning of the turbulent and colorful Fasching weekend.

On Thursday women take over city halls and cut men’s ties, with dances and festivities on the weekend.

On Rose Monday there will be large parades in Mainz, Cologne and Düsseldorf.

Fasching Tuesday marks the largest parade in the region in Ramstein starting at p.m.

Make sure to be there early, expect roadblocks and traffic delays and don’t forget to wear your silliest outfit.

HOMBURG FLEA AND ANTIQUE MARKET

FEB. 3, 8 A.M. – 4 P.M., AM FORUM, HOMBURG

The biggest flea and antique market in southwest Germany, takes place on the first Saturday of the month, in the area known as the Forum, in front of the Homburg Rathaus (town hall) and the Landratsamt. The flea market was launched in 1975 by the Werbegemeinschaft Homburg e.V. and has developed into the largest in southwest Germany. On peak days in the summer, 1,500 traders offer their wares and attract thousands of visitors to Homburg. The flea market has become the top address for customers from France, Luxembourg and Belgium, among others. All this makes it a tourist attraction.

CANDLELIGHT: KONZERT IM KERZENSCHEIN

FEB. 10, 8 P.M., STIFTSKIRCHE, KAISERSLAUTERN

Konstanze Licht and Marc Kienle are starting a new series of concerts in the Stiftskirche. They will perform pieces on the harp and trumpet when the Gothic church will only be illuminated by candles. There will be works from Baroque to pop in a unique atmosphere. FADO-REISE, KONZERT AUßER DER REIHE

MARCH 1, 7.30 P.M., FRUCHTHALLE, KAISERSLAUTERN

Sina Nossa will present their new album Concreta Utopia. New creative jewels that just want to be heard and felt. Weltschmerz and melancholy of traditional Fado music meet jazz, pop and folklore. VIVE LA FRANCE, SUNDAYS AT FIVE

MARCH 3, 5 P.M., FRUCHTHALLE, KAISERSLAUTERN

“Live like god in France”, this saying usually refers to culinary delights of the French cuisine. But, our neighbor country also has a lot to offer when it comes to music, such as delicious opera melodies from composers such as Jules Massenet, Leo Delibes or dance rhythms that bubble like champagne by Jacques Offenbach.
