ALSTADTFEST (OLD TOWN FESTIVAL)

JULY 5–7, STEINSTRASSE/ST. MARTINSPLATZ, KAISERSLAUTERN

The old town festival from Spittelstrasse to Mainzer Tor will let Kaiserslautern turn into one large open-air pub. Food, drinks, music on various stages, street theater and handcraft markets will draw thousands from the region and beyond. If you’re not planning to go out of town for the long weekend, this is a great festival to enjoy. DISCOVERY TOUR IN ENGLISH

JULY 6, 11:15 A.M., CASIMIR SAAL (CITY HALL), KAISERSLAUTERN

The guided tour includes a visit inside the Casimir Saal, located just below the City Hall. It is approximately 1.5 hours and leads through the underground illuminated tunnel with information and sound effects about the history of Kaiserslautern. SUMMER SWING IM VOLKSPARK (CONCERT SERIES)

JULY 10, 7 P.M., VOLKSPARK, KAISERSLAUTERN

Franz Wosnitza, a popular musician from Kaiserslautern, will present a series of concerts at Volkspark, every Wednesday until the end of August. “No matter what” on July 10, followed by “Acoustic Blues Community” on July 17. Enjoy a relaxed evening, bring your blanket and a picnic basket, and swing yourself into summer.

MARKTTAGE (MARKET DAYS)

JULY 5–7, CITY CENTER, SAARBURG

The Saarburg Market Days are starting their 48th edition. From Friday to Sunday there will be a colorful market in Saarburg’s city center with live music on two stages and children’s entertainment. Friday: Drawn in fate — cover band from classic rock to hard rock. Saturday: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. wine shopping — regional winemakers will present their wines in front of Saarburg’s specialist shops. At 9:30 p.m. Zentury XX — a versatile journey through the music of the 70s, 80s and 90s with the greatest hits of the time. Sunday at 1 p.m. Trezzmen — songs from the last 70 years. Market activity in the city center with food, drinks and handcrafted items every day from 11 a.m.

RHEIN IN FLAMMEN (RHINE IN FLAMES)

Experience the Rhine in flames! What began a long time ago is still as inseparable from the Middle Rhine Valley as its wine: the Rhine in Flames events. For thousands of people, they are a must-have on their calendars. On five dates between May and September, places and cultural landscapes, castles and Rhine complexes shine, and fireworks delight spectators on land and on ships. The ship convoys are accompanied by the rumbling thunder of the magnificent fireworks, the echo of which refracts on the mountain slopes and makes the entire valley tremble. A fivefold special experience, as every Rhine in Flames venue has its own special characteristics. RAMSTEINER SOMMERNÄCHTE (SUMMER NIGHTS)

JULY 12, 7 P.M., CONGRESS CENTER, RAMSTEIN

The series of summer night concerts begins July 12 with varying bands and singers. Weather permitting, the concerts will take place every Friday until Aug. 23.

BREZELFEST

JULY 11–16, CATHEDRAL MEADOW, SPEYER

For six days there will be cheers, hustle and bustle on the festival meadow below the cathedral. The highlight of the fest will be the traditional parade on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. and end with brilliant final fireworks display on Tuesday.

ZURLAUBENER HEIMATFEST (SUMMER FESTIVAL)

JULY 12–14, TRIER/ZURLAUBEN

The festival in Zurlauben, which is a historic fisher village in Trier, will take place along the banks of the Moselle River. Food, wine stands along the promenade, music and great fireworks on Friday evening. Don’t miss out on a romantic and spectacular summer evening!

LANDAUER SOMMER,(SUMMER FESTIVAL)

JULY 12–14, CITY CENTER, LANDAU

Be part of the city vibes! A symphony of enjoyment!! Three days of summer feeling in open air with the special sound of Landau.This is southern Palatinate enjoyment in its purest form. During Landauer Sommer the whole city pulsates and music flows through its veins.
