The history of Ramstein Air Base began with the first construction work in April 1951. August 2022 will mark the 70th anniversary of its commissioning. Using carefully selected objects and photographs, the exhibition commemorates seven decades of the Air Base and the impact it has had on its surroundings. The Pfennigbazaar is the oldest indoor flea market in the region and is organized by the German-American & International Women’s Club. All proceeds go to non-profit German and American organizations in the KMC area. We invite the community to do some good while shopping for little money.

RAMSTEIN ROADRUNNERS WALKING CLUB MEETING, 3RD TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH AT 7 P.M., RAMSTEIN-MIESENBACH
The Ramstein Roadrunners Walking Club offers guided walks throughout the year, the next meeting is on Jun 21. There are also two annual events: a Friendship Walk in May and the November Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving Day. Both of these take place at Ramstein-Miesenbach, following the marked trails at your own pace. You can choose a trail length of 5, 10, 16 or 21 km. Kaiserslautern’s cultural centers will open for a long night of culture “Lange Nacht der Kultur” with music, art and entertainment for families in the afternoon and for adults with events up to shortly prior to sunrise. Enjoy a day with family fun for kids and teens. The day’s events will include booths of various institutions, organizations, clubs and tourism as well as foosball, billiards, ping-pong tables and ball games. The outdoor area will be dedicated to an active participation program, along with culinary delights and a musical program. Five KMC groups will showcase their organizations.
MEDIEVAL SUMMER MARKET, JUNE 25-26, LICHTENBERG CASTLE, THALICHTENBERG
Dive into the Middle Ages at Castle Lichtenberg near Kusel and enjoy Medieval music and dancers in colorful robes and with ancient instruments. Try your expertise in shooting a crossbow or bow or grab a bite to eat or a sip of medieval beverage served based on old recipes. The Primeval Geoskop museum and the Pfälzer Musikantenland-Museum will be open on both days and coffee and cake in served in the “Zehntenscheune” (barn). Parking within walking distance. BRETZELFEST (CITY FESTIVAL), JULY 7-12, FAIRGROUND next to CATHEDRAL, SPEYER
The annual city festival offers rides, food and beverages, traditional music and fun for everyone. The parade on Sunday starts at 1.30 p.m. and a brilliant fireworks display concludes the event on Tuesday evening.
ZURLAUBEN/HEIMATFEST, JULy 8-10, ZURLAUBEN UFER/MOSELLE RIVER BANK, TRIER
Enjoy a spectacular festival with wine and culinary delights directly along the banks of the Moselle River. The traditional and cozy Fishermen’s Village of Zurlauben lined with pubs, cafes and restaurants invites you to a three-day event with fun activities, music, regional specialties and lots of wine. Magnificent musical fireworks will light the skies over the river at 11 p.m. on Saturday evening. A number of roads will be blocked and drivers are advised to use the designated parking areas and take shuttle busses to the event.
WEINFEST IN DER PERGOLA, JULY 8-10, ST. MARTIN/WEINSTRAssE
The highest wine fest in the Pfalz region takes place in the tiny town of St. Martin. At 430m altitude the pergola covered in vines grows into the vineyard slope and has space for 1,000 visitors.
