The Pfalzphilharmonie Kaiserslautern, conducted by Daniele Squeo, will perform Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 in E-flat major. With his extensive sacred works as well as his symphonic output, Anton Bruckner can be considered one of the most important composers of the late Romantic period. As a personality as well as a musician, he was initially celebrated as an organ virtuoso before also gaining recognition as one of the great symphonists after Ludwig van Beethoven. 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of his birth. To mark the occasion, the Pfalzphilharmonie KL, will perform his 4th Symphony, which the composer himself called the “Romantic”, in a special concert. Bruckner’s idea of placing the creation of the music itself in a larger context is particularly effective in a church setting.
