Americans brought the “American Way of Life” to Germany, including American football, while Germans had their own “football”. Although both sports sound similar by name, they are completely different when it comes to playing the game. The exhibition will show differences, connections and how Germans and Americans came closer through sports. KAISERSLAUTERN CITY TOUR IN ENGLISH

If you are interested in getting to know the local area during your stay in Germany, we encourage you to take part in an English guided tour in the City of Kaiserslautern! The tourist information is offering guided English tours of the ruins of Casimir Castle, the Count Palatinate Hall and the 70-meter long underground tunnels. Further tours will be offered once a month until Nov. The meeting place is the Tourist Information next to the Fruchthalle and the tour takes about 1.5 hours. LÄTAREUMZUG (PARADE)
MARCH 19, 2 P.M., CITY CENTER, LANDAU
The traditional Lätare Parade, which takes place three Sundays prior to Easter will wind its way through the streets of Landau. The colorful parade will start in front of the city hall and end at the large market square. A Hansel thimble game (finger puppets) will be presented, followed by the burning of winter, including a snowman. This tradition is unique to the region along the Deutsche Weinstraβe (German wine road), so don’t miss out on this extraordinary event in Germany!
GIMMELDINGER MANDELBLÜTENFEST (ALMOND BLOSSOM FESTIVAL)
MARCH 24-26, 31-APRIL 2, TOWN CENTER/VINEYARDS GIMMELDINGEN/NEAR NEUSTADT
This year’s Almond Blossom Festival will take place on two consecutive weekends to deter the large number of expected visitors. The festival with delicate pink and rose-colored blossoms not only rings in the beginning of Spring, but also the start of the wine fest season in the Pfalz region. There will be 20 wine booths, both inside and outside of the town within the vineyards. Snacks, arts and crafts and typical regional products will be for sale, activities are planned for children. LAUTERN BLÜHT AUF (SPRING MARKET)

Experience Kaiserslautern blooming again in spring. Shops and restaurants/cafés in the pedestrian zone have planned a colorful program with concerts, artists and walking acts. Shops will be open from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday. Come and spring into spring!

HINKELSTEIN-WANDERMARATHON/TRAIL

Hiking fans and trail running athletes can look forward to an exciting outdoor event during spring’s first rays of sunshine. The run starts at the Stadthalle in Otterberg, in close proximity to the impressive Abteikirche. Various distances are available: a full marathon with a distance of 42 km starts between 7.30-8 a.m. The half marathon 22 km starts between 8 and 9 a.m. and the trail hike between 9 and 9.30 a.m. Whether you run or walk at a leisurely pace, the trail will lead you through pristine forest areas and stretches across open fields, passing historic border stones, menhirs and ponds. It offers breathtaking views such as the Donnersberg, the Pfalz region’s highest peak. There will be stations with refreshments and checkpoints along the way.
