KELTENDORF STEINBACH

RE-OPENING APRIL 6, SUNDAYS/HOLIDAYS 11 A.M.–4 P.M., STEINBACH/DONNERSBERG

A visit to the Celtic village in Steinbach at Donnersberg is like a fascinating journey into the mystical world of early Donnersberg residents. The small, reconstructed village is more than a museum in the classic sense. The culture of the Celtic inhabitants can be experienced here. Follow footsteps Donnersberg dwellers more than 2000 years ago with all your senses. The floor plans of a Celtic settlement from the 1st century b.c. served as a model for the complex, which was built in 2004. The six buildings give a good impression of the craft techniques that the Celts used to build houses. You can see wooden post and half-timbered structures that were made with appropriate tenons using traditional wood construction technology. Wooden shingles were used for the roofing. The facades were plastered with clay. In the Celtic village, guests young and old can also get active themselves. Learning Celtic craft techniques such as felting, arrow making and clay bead making complement the tour of the village and make the visit a very special excursion into the world of the Celts on Donnersberg.
