SCHLOSSPLATZ, PIRMASENS

Four different wine makers of the region will present their wines for tasting. A ferris wheel, vendors, food and beverages- as well as live music will get you into the swing. Shops are open for business from 1 – 6 p.m. on Sunday.

KREATIVMARKT (CREATIVE MARKET), NOV. 5, 1 – 6 P.M. AND NOV. 6, 11 A.M. – 6 P.M.

BÜRGERHAUS, WEILERBACH

Creative people from Weilerbach show and share their crafts in the 30th annual exhibition. You can also enjoy coffee and homemade cake that invite you to stay and shop.

RUN OF TORCHES / RUNNING EVENT, NOV. 5, 5.30 P.M.

TURNERSTRASSE 5, RODENBACH

The Turnverein Rodenbach (Athletic Association) can finally light its torches again and cordially invites members of the KMC to join in the fun. Runners can enjoy a 7-km cross country track (asphalt) illuminated by more than 300 tours. Children are invited to join in the 1100 m track and a bambini run for children under 5, with a distance of 500 m, is also available. The torches on the track create a unique atmosphere and provide an extraordinary experience for every runner. Children will all be awarded a medal and have a very spectacular winners’ ceremony! For the children we do not focus on the competition, but the fun doing sports together and to feel the pride of achieving and the glory of getting a medal! The main run is more of a competitive run. DLV registered, chip-timing, 5 year age grouping, After the run, there is time and space to change and shower. The meeting area in the gym offers food and drinks and a place for some social interaction with other groups and runners. Overall, it is a great sports event and a unique experience that should not be missed! MARTINI MARKT, NOV. 6

CATHOLIC CHURCH SQUARE/TOWN CENTER, DAHN/PFALZ

As in other German towns, a special event will take place in honor of St. Martin. Shops will be open in the afternoon for early seasonable gift shopping. 60 vendors will offer their goods, you can win a seasoned and ready-to-cook St. Martin’s goose in a raffle. Some highlights of the event: Original circus elephants will show their skills and tricks, enjoy a gondola ride high above the rooftops and experience a grand view of the Wasgau region, and motorbike stuntman will deliver a breatktaking show. When it gets dark, enjoy a Glühwein or a hot dish in a cozy round with friends.

USAFE – AMBASSADORS CONCERT, NOV. 6, 5 P.M.

FRUCHTHALLE, KAISERSLAUTERN

Enjoy an evening with the Ambassadors ensemble from the USAFE Band in the spirit of German-American friendship. The Ambassadors are a rock ensemble and look forward to entertaining you with pop, funk and soul classics. Tickets are available at the Tourist Information Kaiserslautern, Tel. 0631 365-2316.

HOBBYKÜNSTLERMARKT (ARTIST MARKET), NOV. 6, 10 A.M. – 5 P.M

SPD ORTSVEREIN/AM HOLLER 81B, OTTERBERG

Various hobby artists from the region will present their works, including paper, wood, clay and ceramic creations, handcraft, sculptures made of differing materials. Visitors can stroll though the halls, food and beverages are available and children can take part in the the handicraft corner.

FASTNACHT/KARNEVAL START, NOV. 11

NATIONWIDE

Nov 11 marks the beginning of the Karneval season in Germany. Some cities such as Cologne, Düsseldorf and Mainz have colorful festivities and street events to kick off the season. The day is NOT a public holiday and all offices and stores are open for business.

ST. MARTIN’S DAY, NOV. 11

SOUTHERN GERMAN STATES

Nov 11 is referred to as St. Martin’s Day, where parades with children carrying colorful (handmade) lanterns and bonfires take place in the individual towns. St. Martin may ride through individual villages on a white horse. KMC members/children are invited to build bright lanterns and join in the fun, check your local “Amtsblatt” for details in your individual village.

DAY OF NATIONAL MOURNING, NOV. 13

The Sunday is observed in commemoration of members of the armed forces of all nations and civilians who died in armed conflicts. U.S. Army and Air Force leadership lay wreaths at cemeteries within the KMC.

ABTEIKIRCHENKONZERT (CHURCH CONCERT), DEC. 11, 5 P.M.

ABTEIKIRCHE/HAUPTSTRASSE, OTTERBERG

The Limburger Domsingknaben (boy’s choir) will present international and classic Advent and Christmas songs. In its 50 year history the choir achieved an excellent reputation in Germany and abroad. This is the last concert in the series of Abteikirchenkonzerte this year.
