Friday, Nov 1, is a public holiday with a religious background. All stores and offices will be closed to observe the occasion in Rheinland-Pfalz, Saarland, Nordrhein-Westfalen, Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. Please note that there is no holiday in Hessen and Berlin. The northern states and Hessen observe Reformation Day on Thursday, Oct 31 as a public holiday.
HERBSTFEST (AUTUMN FESTIVAL)

HOMBURG FLEA AND ANTIQUES MARKET

The biggest flea market in southwest Germany, always takes place on the first Saturday of the month. Launched in 1975, it has developed into the largest in the area. Further date: Dec. 7, Christmas Flea Market.
MANFRED MANN’S EARTH BAND – LIVE

Manfred Mann has created several songs for eternity. Global hits like “Blinded By The Light”, “Mighty Quinn”, or “Davy’s On The Road Again” are classics of pop and rock history that have not gathered any dust to this day. Born in South Africa, Mann founded his Earth Band in 1971. The Earth Band quickly became regulars in the charts around the world with their hits. DISCOVERY TOUR IN ENGLISH

The guided tour includes a visit inside the Casimir Saal, located just below the City Hall. It is approximately 1.5 hours and leads through the underground illuminated tunnel with information and sound effects about the history of Kaiserslautern. Are you in for a very unusual concert where an alpine horn accompanies an organ? If yes, this is it! An alpine horn is a very long wooden instrument with a full body sound. Organist Stephan Thomas and horn player Balthasar Streiff will present their own works ranging from Baroque, the Romantic era to contemporary pieces.
