MARTINUS WEINFEST ST. MARTIN

NOV. 3 – 5, TOWN CENTER, ST. MARTIN (NEAR NEUSTADT)

St. Martin at southern Weinstrasse hosts the Martinus Weinfest very late in the season. It is considered to be the closing of the wine fest season and is held in honor of its patron saint St. Martin of Tours. Visitors are advised to take trains or park well outside of the village and walk, as the village center is blocked for the festival.

CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIEW

Creedence Clearwater Review is the first British band to pay tribute to legendary Creedence Clearwater Revival, one of America’s greatest bands. PAINT AND SIP EVENT

KAISERSLAUTERN CITY TOUR IN ENGLISH

St. Martin might ride through your town on a white horse and bring joy to children. Many villages offer parades, music and children cheerfully singing and carrying colorful hand-made lanterns. Historic monastery Machern will turn into one wonderful Lego landscape on the weekend. Nov. 11 marks the beginning of the Karneval season in Germany. Some cities such as Cologne, Düsseldorf and Mainz have colorful festivities and street events to kick off the season. The day is not a public holiday and all offices and stores are open for business, but you may encounter people in silly costumes.

Sunday, Nov. 19 is observed as the National Day of Mourning in commemoration of members of the armed forces of all nations and civilians who died in armed conflicts. Ceremonies take place at cemeteries.

RUDOLF LEVY EXHIBITION

UNTIL FEB. 11, 2024, MUSEUM PFALZGALERIE (MPK), KAISERSLAUTERN

The museum is displaying the works of artist Rudolf Levy, who is known as the “magician of colors.” Levy, born in northern Germany, lived in Paris for a few years and was acquainted with artists such as Pablo Picasso, but later became a victim of the Holocaust.
