Enjoy a typical village fest, meet neighbors and new friends at Ramstein’s tricentennial Kerwe with a special program for the occasion. Celebrate with live music, regional specialties and beverages.
Tapping of the keg will be on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., followed by live music with “Strassenmusikanten” and fireworks at 9:45 p.m. On Sunday rides will pick up at 1:00 p.m. and line up for the parade at 2:00 p.m., which will circle around town and end for the “Kerwerede”. Monday starts with “Frühschoppen” and the Straussjugend will sing at the market fountain at 7:00 p.m. On Tuesday evening at 8:00 p.m. the Straussjugend will meet for the last time to “bury” the Kerwe.

WURSTMARKT (WINE FEST)
SEP. 13–16, FAIR GROUNDS/CITY CENTER, BAD DÜRKHEIM
Said to be the largest wine festival in the world, the Dürkheimer Wurstmarkt (sausage market) is yet another highlight that lures guests to the German Wine Route for 9 days and nights with an extensive program. Delicious specialties from the Palatinate are offered to you almost everywhere and around 300 wines and sparkling wines from the entire region await you – there will certainly be one or two drinks for you with which you can enjoy the evening musical fireworks! The event is rather popular among KMC members and invites you to celebrate. However, beware: the Polizei is out there. Special trains will be running from Kaiserslautern, so hop on and enjoy the festivities, but make sure to get home safely!

KINDERALTSTADTFEST

Since 1996, the Children’s Old Town Festival has been celebrated in Kaiserslautern every year on the occasion of World Children’s Day. The festival will take place on Saturday in the area from Stockhaus-platz to Kaiserbrunnen. The Children’s Old Town Festival guarantees a colorful program with lots of fun and action, and is a wonderful experience for children and their companions. The topic “refugee children” according to Article 22 of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is the focus of this year’s Children’s Rights Week.
4-MILE/7-MILE TRAIL

The running section of TSG 1861 (sports club) Kaiserslautern is organizing a 7-mile trail run for the fifth time this year. Formerly known as the German-American Half Marathon, it was changed into a trail run. There are two trails, 4 miles and 7 miles. There will be prizes for winners and a cake buffet in the afternoon. OKTOBERFEST

The world’s largest beer fest is scheduled to start with the parade of the brewery horses and tapping of the keg on Sat. 16. Large tents with music and Bavarian Händl (rotary chicken), a multitude of exciting rides, vendors, food, drinks and sweets invite international guests to 17 days of lively Bavarian spirit. ROMANTIC NIGHT – LOVE NEVER ENDS, DOUBLE CONCERT

Love never ends – Gregorian chant from Passau and Salzburg and contemporary compositions from the Middle Ages, essentially the same liturgical tradition was cultivated in what is now Austria and southern Germany, as documented by medieval sources.
Byzantine chorale with works by Nikolaos Koukoumas – In the 14th century, hesychasm was developed as a form of spirituality by orthodox Byzantine monks. It spread quickly and had an influence on all aspects of the Orthodox Church. At this time, a great but little-known composer lived in Thessaloniki: Nikolaos Koukoumas. His works include the second stasis of the Polyeleos (Psalm 135), a composition incorporating all eight modes of Byzantine music. This masterpiece has never been performed in any other program. As soon as the festive season in Bad Dürkheim is over, the next major event about the liquid gold begins in Neustadt. From late September to mid-October, the German Wine Harvest Festival offers you two very special highlights in addition to the large fair and the w.i.n.e.FESTival. Every year, the election of the German Wine Queen traditionally takes place. At the end of the celebrations, numerous traditional and marching groups as well as spectacular floats parade through the city on Oct. 13, Sunday afternoon, forming the largest wine parade in all of Germany! There will be special trains from Kaiserslautern to Neustadt, hop on and enjoy the ride!
FARMERS’ MARKET IN SCHNECKENHAUSEN

With over 70 lovingly designed stalls presenting a wide range of regional products, jewelry and decorative items, liqueurs, wines and organic honey, the farmers’ market has become a highlight in the region’s calendar of events. The farmers’ market in Schneckenhausen offers more than just shopping opportunities – it is a feast for the senses. Visitors are greeted by an abundance of fresh produce from the region, from crusty bread and fragrant cheeses to fresh vegetables and juicy fruit. The stalls are filled with carefully selected goods that reflect the quality and diversity of local agriculture.
