Lt. Gen. Donald M. Campbell, U.S. Army Europe commanding general, met Soldiers and leaders with the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command during a visit to Rhine Ordnance Barracks
Feb. 6.
During the visit, Campbell attended a leaders’ luncheon with 10th AAMDC senior leaders. The luncheon was hosted by 10th AAMDC Commander Col. Gregory Brady. Conversation during the luncheon centered on topics of focus and priorities within U.S. Army Europe, including ending sexual harassment and assault, Army force modification and the future, and the importance of the missile defense force within the USAREUR area of responsibility and the Army.
During an in-depth discussion on the Army’s continued focus on stemming sexual assault in the ranks, Campbell closed with clear and focused language.
“It’s not just against our values,” Campbell said. “It’s a crime.”
Lt. Col. Robert Ozanich, assistant chief of staff for intelligence and security with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 10th AAMDC, said Campbell discussed the Sexual Harassment and Assault Response program in a way that was clear and easy to understand and take to heart.
“We could definitely all appreciate the discussion, and I think it resonates well with leaders here,” Ozanich said.
Brady highlighted the importance of the visit for the organization.
“It’s always beneficial to have the commanding general come down and discuss these important topics first-hand with our Soldiers, especially how we address sexual assault response and prevention — our main effort,” he said.
After the luncheon, Campbell conducted a training site visit with 5th Battalion, 7th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th AAMDC Soldiers, who were conducting training using the Army’s Reconfigurable Tabletop Trainer Patriot Missile trainer, known as the RT3. The RT3 simulates Patriot Missile operations allowing system operator-maintainers to test and improve their proficiency in an electronic lab environment.
Headquartered at Rhine Ordnance Barracks, the 10th AAMDC oversees troops, operations and training missions throughout USAREUR and U.S. European Command.
