The former mining village of Imsbach at the Donnersberg hill will be a mecca for friends of minerals and fossils. Under the motto, “Informing — Swapping — Buying,” the 28th Mineral Swap Meet will take place Saturday and Sunday in the Imsbach community hall.
Visitors can experience the diversified mineral world from 10 a.m. to
6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Visitors will have the opportunity to admire treasures that can normally only be found in the underground mines; more than 40 collectors from Germany and France will show off these impressive finds.
Swap meet visitors buying the adventure ticket will be able to visit the two mines in Imsbach, called Weisse Grube and Grube Maria, as well as the Palatinate Mining Museum. Admission to the museum is free for swap meet visitors. The special exhibition, “Copper — an indispensable material,” will display information about the copper mineral on posters, photos and information boards.
Guided tours under the motto, “On the traces of mining,” will be given at 1 p.m. on both days to help visitors experience the former mining areas.
A Mining Express will run between the exhibition hall and the mining area. The 500th and 1,000th visitor will receive attractive prizes.
Guests who would like to come by public transportation can go by train to Winnweiler, and then take the bus to Imsbach.
