More than 140 ride owners and vendors present their attractions, merchandise and food specialties. A fireworks display will be lit around 10 p.m. Through May 30, the rides are open from 1 to 11 p.m. each day and until midnight Saturdays. Kaiserslautern starts its annual “Maikerwe,” or May carnival, at 5 p.m. today at the Messeplatz fairgrounds. • Charity concert with cello ensemble of Deep String music school, rock and pop choir Lauter Maedels, and Shaian, a choir consisting of musicians from Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Pakistan, Indonesia and Germany, 3 p.m. Saturday. Tickets cost €8. Family tickets cost €21.

• Chamber concert: “Wonder Child and Genius,” the Faure Quartett performs works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy and a German actor reads text passages, 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets cost €14 to €24.

It features vendors, craftsmen, knights, noblewomen, Vikings, musicians, jugglers and fire eaters. Admission fee is €6 for adults and €3 for children and visitors in medieval clothes. Obermoschel is located on B420 north of Lauterecken. It is known as the smallest town in the Pfalz. For details, visit www.mittelalter-obermoschel.de.
