The Westpfalz Biker Group will sponsor its third annual Westpfalz Biker Day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday all around Landstuhl’s community hall, Stadthalle. Under the auspices of Deputy County Commissioner Gerhad Müller and Landstuhl Deputy Mayer Dr. Peter Degenhardt, the event features motorcycle displays, emergency response demonstrations, safety information by different agencies, an autograph session by the German superbike champion, music, the possibility to take part in a motorcycle ride, a raffle and eating and drinking.
“Our biker day is a fundraiser to support regional charities,” said Friedrich Müller from the organization team. “Last year we were able to donate to the Kaiserslautern Children’s Accident Committee and the House of Youth in Landstuhl.”
Organizers want to help minimize the amount of motorbike accidents. Therefore they have a close cooperation with the Kaiserslautern Police Headquarters, the Children’s Accident Committee, the German Red Cross and the technical inspection agency. The focus of our annual charity event is the safety of motorcycle
driving, Mr. Müller said.
The German Red Cross will demonstrate first aid and other immediate emergency response measures that should be performed at the site of a motorcycle accident. Visitors wanting to experience how it feels to drive while under the influence, can get into a driving simulator.
The demonstration team of the ADAC Pfalz Trial will demonstrate its motorcycle driving skills.
Children can take rides in a motorcycle merry-go-round and take a seat in a vehicle presented by the U.S. Military Police.
“At 11 a.m., motorbikers can take part in a 60-kilometer trip through the winding roads of the Sickinger Höhe,” Mr. Müller said. Participants can buy tickets for €2 for a raffle being held after the tour. “We’ll have some nice prizes including a safety training class, motorcycles accessories, gift certificates for restaurants and more.”
All day long, the Kaiserslautern radio station Antenne 96.9 will provide musical entertainment and information in German and English. Members of the Hochspeyer German Red Cross food service department will take care of hungry and thirsty
visitors.
“We hope a lot of Americans will join us on biker day to learn about motorcycles and safety and even ride with us,” Mr. Müller said.
