HEIDELBERG, Germany — The Women’s World Cup will kick off at locations around Germany beginning the end of June. The U.S. starts in a favored position, ranked No. 1 in the world.
A highlight of the first round matches will be the U.S. match against Colombia on July 2, played in the Sinsheim stadium, a quick 30-minute drive or train ride from Heidelberg.
The U.S. will face North Korea in their first match, played on June 26 in Dresden. Their final match in the group stage will be against Sweden July 6 in Wolfsburg.
If the U.S. places first or second in their first round group, they will move on to direct elimination quarter and semi-final matches, and perhaps all the way to the final.
