WTB-E takes part in Battle of the Bulge commemorative march

Photo by Linda SteilOn Dec. 13, the USO arranged for 40 wounded, ill and injured Soldiers and cadre from the Warrior Transition Battalion-Europe to participate in the 70th anniversary commemorative Battle of the Bulge march in Bastogne, Belgium. In total, more than 1,500 people participated in the 12-kilometer hike that followed the path of the Battle of the Bulge through fields and forests of eastern Belgium. To add to the authentic feeling of the event, many re-enactors in period costumes and uniforms participated in the hike, and many foxholes and field hospitals were set up. Also, the heavy snow added to the somberness and solemnity of the day and served as a reminder of how the conditions were for the actual Soldiers, who held their ground against an overwhelming onslaught in austere conditions.
